ABOUT ME

Dr Michael Yeong is a compassionate paediatric cardiologist with special interests in general paediatric cardiology, echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and adolescent/adult congenital heart disease. 

 

Graduating from the University of New South Wales in 2002, Dr Yeong then went to complete extensive training in general paediatrics and paediatric cardiology. He was awarded a Fellowship in paediatric cardiology from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2013 and general paediatrics in 2014.

 

Recognising his passion for cardiology, Dr Yeong pursued a paediatric cardiology training at Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand and Mater Children’s Hospital, Brisbane. He subsequently trained in paediatric and adult congenital cardiac MRI at the Boston Children’s Hospital, USA. He is level III SCMR accredited. Dr Yeong further advanced his congenital cardiology knowledge by taking up an adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) Fellowship at the Bristol Heart Institute, UK. In 2017, he was appointed as a consultant at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, UK sub-specialising in cardiac imaging, including advanced echocardiography, interventional echocardiography, and cardiac MRI. During this time, he was also an invited lecturer for the Bristol Level 1 Cardiac MRI course. 

 

Dr Yeong’s research has been presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Yeong held an Honorary Research Associate role with the University of Bristol. He is also part of the editorial team for the Journal of Congenital Cardiology.

 

Dr Yeong consults privately at Paeds in a Pod in Woolloongabba, Ashgrove & Gold Coast and accepts all aspects of paediatric cardiology referrals.
